Cardboard Catwalk

The Concept:

The idea behind the cardboard catwalk is to create a wearable piece of art that can be paraded down a catwalk that is inspired by the works of a randomly selected artist.  Here are my developments to date ...

One Line Drawing

A measured drawing workshop,  something that i have never done before and found difficult to get the patience for however for key focal points and measurements i can see it being a very useful.  I however much preferred creating the one line drawing of the same set-up.  Also just to create a comparison, the measured drawing was a result of a good 3 hours work, whereas the one line drawing took only 10 minutes...

3D drawing

The Concept:

The concept behind the 3D drawing session was to partake in the following stages:
Produce drawings from a 3D object
Exaggerate the drawings to extend features of the object
Produce a sculptural piece based on the drawing created, not simply replicating the object itself!

I decided on working with a peg as the shape I felt would be something I would be able to extend and exaggerate quite well.  From the peg I created drawings and sketches and then produced a layered sculptural outcome from corrugated cardboard ... and this is the result.

Drawing from a moving image

Photomap

Concept:

In order to get thoroughly familiar with the surroundings of Manchester Metropolitan University, We were asked to create a photo map that would display our artistic interests and also become a useful resource.  As a result of this i decided to adapt origami folds to create an origional foldout map showing all the points of interest.  This video shows the functioning map and therefore the result of the project...

 The Lady From Shanghai

Star Wars

Moulin Rouge

500 Days of summer

The Concept:

To create images that are based upon the lighting and camera angles used in films within specific categories.  Within the chosen categories I decided upon the following films:  The lady from Shanghai (Film Noir), Star Wars (sci-fi), Moulin Rouge (Musical) and 500 Days of Summer (an additional add-on as I love the way the entire film has been set-up and shot) From each of these films I chose a minimum of 2 stills where I thought a particular aspect would be a good way of photographing my own personally altered computer ...  and these are the results.
